Chiropractors Respond to Law Suit Filed

On the day that the Connecticut Board of Chiropractic Examiners finalized its ruling, which confirms that Doctors of Chiropractic in the state are taking the proper steps to inform and protect their patients, it is unfortunate that the profession’s detractors are attempting to circumvent the decision through legal means.

The Connecticut Chiropractic Association and the Connecticut Chiropractic Council, which together represent most practicing Doctors of Chiropractic in Connecticut, have not received nor reviewed the details alleged in the lawsuit.

However, the lawsuit is neither a surprise nor is it unanticipated. VOCA threatened to file a lawsuit throughout the extensive hearing process, which lasted four days and provided the group with ample opportunity to submit evidence and testimony supporting its position. VOCA’s position was summarily rejected by the Board. VOCA can appeal that decision, but it has instead chosen a more aggressive approach. Our attorneys will seek to have the case dismissed.

We recognize that the individuals behind VOCA are deeply disappointed by today’s decision. However, this lawsuit merely continues a campaign to denigrate and defame the chiropractic profession. Doctors of chiropractic are dedicated to guiding patients to make healthy choices and to treat their individual health issues with care, concern and professionalism. This will not change. We remain dedicated to our patients and to the one-on-one discussions that are integral to a proper informed consent process.
